After decades of hard work touring, recording, and traveling annually to Clarksdale, the ataproot of the blues.Rita Engedalen has assumed the titlr Norway`s Queen of the Blues. In the last decade, she was awarded the Notodden Blues Festival Award in 2010 and in 2012, she and her band Backbone cooped first place in the European Blues Challenge. Engedalen`s blues roots run deep. Friendship with mentors like the Kristin Berglund and Jessie Mae Hemphill have given Engedalen the inner fire to carry on. In addition to her combine elements of American blues and folk music with her own Norwegian folk traditions. All ten of the 11 songs here are her original compositions, Hemphills`"Black Cat Bone" being the only cover. She is an accomplished guitarist and, after three records and years of hard touring both solo with her band, Engedalen has worked hard to become a polished vocalist. Backing Engedalen on this record are her regular band featuring Morten Omlid, one of that country`s finest blues guitarists, Bård Gunnar Moe on bass, Eskil Aasland on drums, and her blues sister Margit Bakken. And there is an all-star group of musical guests including Jostein Forsberg (harp), Espen Fjelle (organ), Daniel Erickson (dobro) and others

The CD opens with an accoustic folk styled tune "Let`s Go Down And Pray" featuring the acoustic duet of just Engedalen and Omlid. The pair returns for another acoustic tune with "Sun Will Come", Later in the disc, she Margit Bakken and folk musican Tuva Syvertsen sing on "Colors In Rain", Songs like "Sunshine Devil" and "I Wanna Feel Good" allow Engedalen to stretch into rockin`territory. On "North Mississiooi Blues", Engedalen pays tribute and name checks her adoptet state, Mississippi. The CD ends with three quiet musical statement. "The Right Hand", "Colors In Rain", and "Wait For Me" emphasize Engedalen`s gentle hand in composing that speak her soul.
