«Nashville Tennesee»
Tekst: Tom Pacheco Musikk: Tom Pacheco
The train whistle blewthrough the falling snow
He could hear its faint lonesome whine
He was in some small town in north Idaho
With the prayers of his family in mind
With his book of songs and a cheap guitar
and a dream that shone like a star
He was on his way to that shining place
where they make or break who you are
Down in Nashville, Tennessee, down in Nashville, Tennessee
In his hometown he was a hero there
He played weekends
and sang his own songs
But his day job down at the auto-repair
would remind him how far he’d gone
He was twenty-nine, time was rolling by
like the big clouds up in the sky
He would hate to be turning fifty-three
wondering why he had never tried
Hitting Nashville, Tennessee, hitting Nashville Tennessee
Soon the train appeared
through the thick white flakes
He got on and sat half afraid
Travelling day and night
across several states
Eating sandwiches his sister made
And he wrote a song in the Kansas sun
like no other song he had done
How could he know then
that one year ahead
It would go straight to number one
Down in Nashville, Tennessee, down in Nashville, Tennessee
Down in Nashville, Tennessee, down in Nashville, Tennessee
